"The Rise of the Tribe Leader"
It was the first reward challenge for the 18 castaways.
The challenge was called “apat na elemento” (four elements) as the castaways would have to go through an obstacle course featuring air, water, fire and earth.
The castaways would climb on a wall and fall into a cargo net (air leg); then they have to make their way through a mud pit (water leg) to look for three rings of the same color (red or yellow). After getting at most three rings from the mud pit, they would have to cross the fire pit (fire leg) to go the next earth leg where they would throw and shoot a total of three rings on a post.
Whoever shoots three rings must reach the platform first and raise the flag. The first two castaways to raise the flag would get one scroll each.
And they’re off.
Jon was the first to reach and climb the wall but Akihiro was the first to go down the net making his way to the mat. The guys, landed on the ground first.
Among the female castaways, Elma was the first to reach the mud pit. Myka had a bad fall on the ground. Princess was the last to climb the wall and fell on the net where she stayed suspended.
Princess said that when she saw the coal pit, she decided not to go on with the challenge despite Richard’s call.
Buwi was the first to run through the fire pit and was successful with his first two attempts to shoot the rings on a post. Aira was the first female castaway to cross the fire pit. Moi and Elma also made a shot. Akihiro’s rings, on the other hand missed the posts. The rest of the castaways had a difficult time looking for the rings of the same color.
Karen meanwhile didn’t mind walking on top of the burning coal, especially after going through the mud pit. She just forgot one thing, to breathe - so that she would be more relaxed doing the challenge.
“Hindi ka maaano ng baga kapag basa ka, common sense! Doon ako nagkamali, hindi ako huminga,” Karen said.
Buhawi and Aira’s Win!
Eventually, Buhawi got one ring from the mud pit and was successful in making his last shot to the post. He rushed towards the platform and raised the flag. Richard announced that Buwi was the first winner of the challenge.
Miko, Jon and Ahron made their first shots but Aira was already ahead and was successful on her tosses. Aira rushed to the platform and became the second winner of the challenge. Ervic threw his ring back to the mud to bend his frustration.
For Aira, the challenge was a piece of cake as she said “Para sa akin, hindi pa ‘yun iyong mahirap na challenge.”
Jon was also impressed with Aira’s performance.
“I didn’t think a girl would win this. I think it was very physically demanding,” Jon said.
Doc Ferds also admitted his frustration by saying, “Sa mga lalaki, ako ‘yung pinakamatanda e.”
Meanwhile, even after the declaration of the winners, Princess was still hanging on the net. She admitted how physically weak she is.
“Kasi napakahina kong tao. Parang, itulak mo ko, bagsak ako agad. Ako ‘yung pinakalampa,” Princess admitted. “Iyung nasa utak ko lang noon, paano ako makakakuha ng pagkain,” she added.
The first winner of the challenge, Buhawi, credited his performance to his wife, to God and his mom who were his inspiration.
The Scrolls
Richard handed the first scroll to Buhawi. Richard announced that Buhawi would become the leader or the “mayor” of the entire tribe for the time being. While the second winner, Aira had to keep her scroll and will only open it during the first tribal council.
Doc Ferds said that he had no problem if Buhawi became their tribe leader. Aira wouldn’t let her win go into her head but she was wondering if the scroll would bring her immunity.
Before heading back to the camp, Karen asked Richard if she could “take a bath in his hotel room” while Pretty Trisza asked for a picture to be taken with him.
Princess, Missing?
It was already dark when the castaways got back to their camp. But Princess didn’t join them.
Ervic believed that Princess would not quit. Doc Ferds thought that Princess just wanted someone to console her.
“Princess didn’t join us pagbalik sa camp. I think Princess wanted somebody to talk to her, to tell her that ‘it’s okay for you to feel bad’. But nobody gave it to her,” Doc Ferds said.
That night, Pretty Trizsa entertained once more her tribe mates by some role-playing to which Ian, Aubrey, Ervic and Myka gladly took part of. None of them knew what Princess was up to.
