“Not a Warrior Princess”

On the second night, Princess Snell didn’t join the rest of the castaways back to the camp.

Instead, Princess talked to the Survivor Philippines resident psychologist Dr. Ali Gui and shared her thoughts and emotions. Crying, Princess complained primarily about being hungry.

“Ano ba ‘tong pinasok ko? Kapag pinag-usapan na iyong gutom, iba talaga e. Parang feeling ko, mamamatay na ako. Hindi biro ang gutom. Kung araw-araw akong magugutom, hindi ko naman kakayanin ‘yun. Hirap talaga, kahit sino naman, kahit ang mahirap. Nakakakain sila ng tinapay, dito wala,” Princess complained.

Dr. Ali tried to make Princess realize what she got herself into and tried to remind the reasons she joined the competition. But Princess was adamant. She simply couldn’t take the living conditions in the camp anymore.

“Mahal ko kasi ang sarili ko. Hindi ako plastic. First time kong mapagod sa buhay ko. Why not quit now than quit tomorrow? And suffer there in the island with no food. Yes, I’m going to quit now!” Princess declared.

Day 3

When the rest of the castaways woke up the next day, Princess was still nowhere in sight.

Mico said that they wondered if she indeed gave up or met some kind of accident.

Aira meanwhile pointed out that everyone must do their share of work and be contented with what they had to eat.

“E nanghihina rin kami, gumagawa din kami ng paraan. Hindi naman kami papetiks-petiks. Kahit maliit na shell kinakain namin. Magkalaman lang ang tiyan naming, happy na kami,” Aira said.

Doc Ferds was more understanding of Princess’ predicament by saying, “Bata pa si Princess e. At tsaka, she’s a princess. It’s okay if you’re home but if you were in an island, that’s a bit liability.”

Pretty Trizsa believed that Princess probably bit more than she could chew.

“E siguro hindi niya kayang mag-bathing suit sa isla. Gusto niya sa Bora. At siguro akala niya life sa Survivor, you’re gonna do challenges but you’re going to stay in a nice hotel. May nagseserve sa iyo na catering. May packed lunch kung nasa location kayo,” Trizsa said.

But Karen couldn’t care less about what happened to Princess.

“Wala akong pakialam kay Princess. Wala siyang goal, wala siyang aim. Bakit siya nandun? Matalino to e, pero dahil bata pa nga siya, she’s gonna be a pain in the a@s!” Karen stressed.

Ian on the other hand was more forgiving as he said, “She’s a good person. I wish the best for her. When I get back, I’ll hang out with her but I don’t really think Survivor’s her cup of tea.”

Princess admitted that she was also disappointed about quitting but defended her decision.

“Nalulungkot ako kasi parang aalis na ako agad. Pero ‘pag nagugutom ang tao, ganun talaga ang buhay. Mababaliw ka, mag-iinit ang ulo mo, magwawala ka. Hindi tayo puppet, hindi tayo artista. Ito ang totoong buhay. Ganito ang nangyayari ‘pag di ka nakakakain,” Princess said.

Alpha Males

The same morning, Buhawi already took the role of the leader by dividing the castaways into three groups – tasked to make a shelter, keep the fire and find food respectively – as suggested by Doc Ferds.

But Jon noticed that it was Doc Ferds who had always wanted to become the leader since day 1.

Karen found a shrub with a root crop and thought it was onion or turnip, “good enough to make a salad”. Some of the castaways took a bite, but found it tasteless and inedible.

Later Doc Ferds asked Aira about her scroll but the dancer didn’t even take a peek on what was written on it.

Elma noticed that Buwi was a bit uneasy around Doc Ferds while Trizsa thought that the big guys were trying to outdo each other around the camp.

“Di paawat si Doc, di pa rin papaawat si Jon. For example si Buwi nakakuha ng log, si Doc kailangan makahanap ng troso. Si Jon Hall, puno dapat ang dala,” Trizsa observed.

Aubrey knew that Jon would become useful at the camp and she even called him “Jungle Boy”. Ian also believed that Jon should be the tribe leader.

Later, Buhawi saw a snake slithering on a tree and called out to Jon who immediately looked for it. Jon tried to hit the snake with a bolo, but Buhawi told him not to kill it.

But while the guys were outdoing each other with the tasks, Pretty Trizsa made it a point to be “sitting pretty.”

“Ako mag-aamo lang forever. Hindi ako magiging katulong,” he said.

Early Alliances?

As the castaways made themselves busy with their assigned tasks, early alliances were already forming.

Myka said that if they would be divided, she would want to be with Elma and Buhawi. On the other hand, Aubrey and Trizsa were already talking about how they are supposed to vote off someone.

But Jon was more aggressive as he talked to Akihiro about strategy.

“We only need numbers,” Jon told Akihiro.

“Which one? The bakla?” Akihiro asked.

“She’s not a guy. She’s with the girls,” Jon answered.

Buhawi knew that Jon was serious about playing the game right from the start.

But Doc Ferds couldn’t fully align himself with Jon, especially with Michelle around.

“Ang drawback lang naming kay Jon is mayroon siyang already existing alliance kay Michelle,” Doc Ferds said.
